Also known as: Egrifta, TH9507, GHRH Analog

Overview

Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino acid GHRH (Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone) analog with enhanced stability. It is the only FDA-approved peptide for reducing visceral adipose tissue, originally developed for HIV-associated lipodystrophy.

How It Works

Tesamorelin activates GHRH receptors in the pituitary gland, stimulating the synthesis and pulsatile release of natural growth hormone. This increases IGF-1 levels, which promotes lipolysis in visceral fat tissue while preserving or building muscle.

Research Status

FDA approved in 2010 (Egrifta). Extensive clinical trials with over 800 participants. Gold standard for GHRH therapy.
