Peptide Storage Guidelines

Proper storage is essential for maintaining peptide potency and safety. Learn how to store peptides before and after reconstitution.

Storage Conditions

Lyophilized (Powder)

Temperature:Room temp or refrigerated
Range:36-77°F (2-25°C)
Duration:1-2 years if sealed

Keep in original sealed vial, away from light and moisture

Reconstituted (Mixed)

Temperature:Refrigerated only
Range:36-46°F (2-8°C)
Duration:4-6 weeks typically

Never freeze. Keep away from light. Use sterile technique.

Do

  • Store in the refrigerator door or main compartment
  • Keep vials upright to prevent stopper contact
  • Use within recommended timeframe after reconstitution
  • Label vials with reconstitution date and concentration
  • Allow vial to reach room temperature before drawing (reduces air bubbles)
  • Use alcohol swabs before each use
  • Keep backup lyophilized vials for emergencies

Do Not

  • Freeze reconstituted peptides (damages protein structure)
  • Expose to direct sunlight or UV light
  • Store near heat sources or in warm areas
  • Leave at room temperature for extended periods
  • Use if solution is cloudy or has particles
  • Store in car, gym bag, or other temperature-variable locations
  • Touch the rubber stopper with fingers

Factors Affecting Stability

Temperature

Critical Impact

Heat accelerates degradation exponentially. Every 10°C increase can halve peptide stability.

Light Exposure

High Impact

UV and visible light can break down peptide bonds. Store in dark or use amber vials if available.

Freeze-Thaw Cycles

Critical Impact

Freezing and thawing damages peptide structure. Never freeze reconstituted peptides.

Time After Reconstitution

Moderate Impact

Peptides gradually degrade in solution. Use within 4-6 weeks for optimal potency.

Signs Your Peptide May Be Degraded

Visual Signs

  • • Cloudy or hazy solution
  • • Visible particles or floaters
  • • Color change (yellowing)
  • • Clumping of powder (before reconstitution)

Other Indicators

  • • Unusual odor
  • • Reduced or no effects
  • • Exposed to improper conditions
  • • Past recommended use-by date

When in doubt, throw it out. Using degraded peptides may be ineffective or potentially harmful.

Travel Tips

Use insulated cooler bags

Keep peptides cool during short trips with ice packs or cooling elements

Bring lyophilized if possible

Unreconstituted peptides are more stable and travel better

Hotel refrigerator

Store in hotel mini-fridge upon arrival. Set to coldest setting.

Avoid checked luggage

Cargo holds can experience extreme temperatures. Keep in carry-on.
